PAT HAZELL. is one of the five funniest people in America. His 25 years of experience as a writer, producer and director have made him a go-to guy for new American theater. Pat is one of the original writers for NBC’s Seinfeld, a Tonight Show veteran, a critically acclaimed playwright and a contributing commentator to National Public Radio. He is recognized for his genuinely funny Americana humor and his salute to nostalgia. As a playwright, Pat’s first endeavor Bunk Bed Brothers was optioned by Columbia Pictures, then gained the attention of the TV industry and was filmed as the sit-com, American Pie, for NBC. Hazell’s signature work, The Wonder Bread Years, a grand salute to the baby-boomer generation, aired on PBS where they referred to Hazell as “America’s Foremost Pop Culture Anthropologist.” Currently, the live theatrical tour of The Wonder Bread Years is enjoying success across the US.

RICK RIGHT. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Brian moved around quite a bit in his early life, eventually staying for eight years in Tucson, Arizona before he and his family moved to Southern California in his mid-teens. He’d developed an interest in Rock & Roll Music from a very early age, buying lots of records and remembering all the trivial information about all the then current hits. By the time he was ready to graduate high school, he was sure that being a Rock Star was his career choice, having switched over from cello to guitar at age 15, and almost immediately being able to play along with over half of any given week’s top 40 tunes, since most of them had no more than five chords anyway. He moved to San Francisco after one year of college to further his dream. Unfortunately, he couldn’t take the role of Rock Star seriously enough, so with Rick & Ruby, who began as a 1950‘s revival act, he was able to develop his flair for satire and parody. Brian had always envisioned living in England, originally from the British Invasion music, but then discovering in his young adulthood a liking for British humour as well. As the US comedy scene in the late 1990’s began to be less to his liking, and his second marriage was crumbling (He now has three divorces to his discredit), he chose to look across the Pond, and has never looked back. Brit audiences have appreciated not only the variety of music that he can explore in 30 minutes on stage, but his ability to create on the spot material solely by audience suggestion.

JOSHUA RAOUL BRODY has been accompanying the members of BATS Improv since long before its origin — he first worked with Barbara Scott when she was with the legendary Santa Cruz troupe Screaming Mimis in the late 70s, and soon thereafter joined Reed Kirk Rahlmann (and BATS alumnus Brian Lohmann, as well as Greg Proops and Michael McShane) in Faultline. BATS founding member William Hall and his fellow Fratelli Bologna guested at a Dumb Songs Festival thrown by Brody’s band, the STUPEDS, in the early 80s. One of Brody’s first contacts with his wife, Juliana Grenzeback, was when she was BATS’s first producing director/stage manager/chief cook & bottle sweep, and he shared accompanying duties with Joe Paulino and Michael Whiteley. Joshua came to improv from the pop music field, although he was always attracted to bands with a comic/theatrical flavor — the Mothers of Invention, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. Moving from New York in 1974, following a brief stay at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Joshua discovered the Bay Area to be a hotbed of comical musedy acts. He quickly found work as musical director for the Pointless Sisters and the Rick & Ruby Show (who later found a smidgen of fame on the Pee-Wee Herman HBO special). With Rick & Ruby, he went on tour with Robin Williams, both opening the show and accompanying Williams on a couple of songs. This led to an appearance on Mork & Mindy and other TV exposure, a period Joshua refers to as “when we were almost famous.” Through Williams, Joshua met and began accompanying LA improv groups such as War Babies and the Comedy Store Players, but it wasn’t until he met Lohmann and Faultline that he began to pursue the craft of improv accompaniment regularly. Joshua is currently BATS Musical Director, accompanying many if not most of their Main Stage shows. He also is a teacher of song improvisation, often with Barbara Scott, and the two of them are members of the a cappella improv choir Tonal Chaos. He is principal accompanist for True Fiction Magazine (of which he was a founding member), Awkward Dinner Party, and other Bay Area improv groups.

CHEY BELL.is a bisexual comedian who's brutally honest and uniquely clever. Often confounded by stupidity, Chey's comedy mirrors life experiences and self-discovery, touching on everything from family, drugs, coworkers, sexuality to misspelled tattoos. Chey's energetic stage presence is engaging, silly, fearless, and direct, just like her! Chey Bell has performed: HBO Women in Comedy festival 2019, Jokers Comedy Club, Comedy Store LA, Laff Factory LA, SF Punch Line, NY Comedy Club, and more. Chey has featured for comedian Laurie Kilmartin, Rachele Feinstein and Jermaine Fowler and has worked with Judah Friedlander and Fazon Love.

STEVE AUSBURNE. comedy career started with MC/Host work for friends with bands. His first attempt at actual stand up ended with a lifetime ban from a church in Grant’s Pass, Oregon.  Buoyed by that successful start, Steve has since embraced the stage as a place to present a spoken word memoir of all the embarrassing life moments that lurk in a place that only stand up or therapy sessions can reveal. Also, he is allergic to cats. Steve peddles his comedic wares throughout Sonoma County and the San Francisco Bay Area.  He produces comedy shows throughout California's Wine Country and in addition to comedy performances, he is available for auctioneering, event hosting, work parties, voice acting, and private dancing.

My goal is not only to realize the client’s needs but to consider the user’s experience functionally, emotionally, and aesthetically.

I am currently pursuing my interests in architecture, sustainability, and the connection between people and place.
