TammyTAMMY EDMONSON, Board President

Tammy grew up in Mill Valley and returned with her husband in 1996 to raise their now-teenage daughter. Following a career as a criminal defense attorney in San Francisco, Tammy has spent the past decade spearheading local educational, environmental and youth initiatives and organizations. Tammy has been actively involved in policy development and advocacy for the Mill Valley School District where she served on the Strategic Planning Task Force, the Funding Alliance, the Political Advocacy Committee and the Strawberry Point School Site Council. In 2008, she chaired the District’s successful $2 million parcel tax campaign and has played a leadership role in a variety of other school-related campaigns. Her years of executive leadership in the local PTAs have included terms as President, Vice President and Historian of the Mill Valley Council of PTAs. As Chair of the Strawberry Point Wetlands/Field Restoration Committee, Tammy oversaw a committee of experts in the fields of environmental science, engineering, architecture and law through a complex, multi-agency permitting process, and coordinated fundraising to accomplish the $500,000 restoration project. In recent years, Tammy has also served as a fundraiser and volunteer coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Bay.

Tammy is a graduate of Hastings College of the Law, and San Francisco State University where she received her BA in Political Science. Her husband, Ethan Schulman, is a partner at the international law firm, Crowell & Moring, handling constitutional issues and complex business litigation.


TammyJAN LITTLE, Board Secretary

Jan grew up in the Bay Area and has lived in San Rafael for 20 years. Her daughter Andrea has been an active participant with Marin Youth Performers since its inception three years ago. Jan's prior non-profit board experience includes having served for nine years on the board at Marin Primary & Middle School in Larkspur and for three years on the board at the Head-Royce School in Oakland. She is currently serving on the board of The Marin School in Sausalito.

Jan is a graduate of UC Berkeley and Yale Law School, and is a member of Keker & Van Nest LLP in San Francisco handling white collar criminal defense and complex business litigation. Jan's husband Rory teaches at Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco, and their three children attend middle and high schools in Marin.


JOHN B. VREELAND, Treasurer

John has been in the financial service business since 1982. His experience includes real estate analysis and sales with Coldwell Banker Commercial, International Reality Finance, Marcus & Millichap and Hyland Properties. He spent five years at Cigna Financial Advisors as a financial planner for high net worth individuals and corporations in the San Francisco Bay Area before founding Vreeland Financial Designs (VFD) in 1997. John offers his extensive experience, passion for problem solving, and gift for distilling and clarifying complex financial issues to the clients of Fairlead Financial Advisors, LLC. John has lived in Mill Valley since 1991 with his wife and two daughters. He sits on the Mill Valley Community Financial Advisory Committee (CFAC) which provides strategic financial planning services for the Mill Valley School District. John is an avid sailor, diver and windsurfer - though he spends much of his free time ferrying his daughters to their activities.

John holds an MBA from Columbia as well as the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations.


RAQUEL FEENEY, Board Member

Raquel was born in Brazil and spent her elementary school years in the United States. Since then she has lived in Rio, London, New York City, France, Hawaii and, for the past two years, Mill Valley where she resides with her husband and five children. Raquel is fully fluent in Portuguese, French and English and continues to travel extensively. Raquel has been involved in a variety of youth-related nonprofit organizations throughout the world through her husband’s family foundation, the French American Charitable Trust, including in Ethiopia where she adopted two of her children. She began her professional career as a teacher for the visually impaired in New York City Schools and has authored several publications on the topic of blindness. While living in France, Raquel founded a successful activity center called Le Kids Club in Nice, France that provided art, music, English, Taekwondo, Dance, Theater and more for kids under the age of 7. Raquel first got involved at 142 Throckmorton Theatre when one of her children became active in the youth program and has since become a fervent supporter for all of its offerings.

Raquel majored in Political Science and Social Work at New York University her Masters Degree in Blindness and Visual Impairment from Teachers College at Columbia University.


ADAM SAVILLE, Board Member

Adam is the founding director of 142’s youth division, Marin Youth Performers. Under his watch MYP grew into a preeminent youth theatre program in the Bay Area. Prior to this role Adam taught in Mill Valley’s top-notch K-8 school district where he received the Golden Bell Award for Outstanding Educators and the Terwilliger Award for Teaching Excellence. Before beginning his teaching career, Adam managed the renowned J*Company Youth Theatre in San Diego mounting professional caliber productions involving children ages 6 to 18. Currently Adam teaches in the Piedmont Unified School District not far from his Oakland home, which he shares with his wife, two-year old daughter and infant son.

Adam is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz and holds an MA in Educational Administration from San Francisco State University.


LUCY MERCER, 142 Founder & Executive Director, Ex Officio Board Member

Lucy opened 142 Throckmorton Theatre as a multi-genre performing arts center in 2002 after carrying out a major renovation of the historic 1910 Hub Theatre. A long-time Mill Valley resident, Lucy’s vision was to create a welcoming center for cultural and educational exchange that would serve and unite the diverse elements of our community. Today, Lucy’s eclectic, high quality programming attracts over 50,000 people to the nonprofit theatre each year. Her deep understanding and support of the artistic process has made 142 a favorite venue among performers of all stripes for artistic experimentation and collaboration.

JULIAN KAELON, Member Marketing Advisory Committee

Julian was born in England and raised in Spain. He spent much of his adolescence traveling and experiencing other cultures, until finally coming to America. In Los Angeles, Julian started a successful business in the health and fitness industry, catering to high-profile Hollywood clientele. After seven years in the industry, Julian left Los Angeles for the greener pastures of the Bay Area. As the son of a famous artist, a passion for the arts was fostered in Julian from a young age. Julian believes that artistic expression is a crucial part of life and enjoys spending his free-time drawing and painting. For these reasons, he feels a strong connection to 142 Throckmorton Theatre and its mission.

Julian is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in Media Studies.

DAVID HARTMAN, Member Governance Advisory Committee

David is a seasoned leader in the social sector, skilled in management and in private consulting. As Principal and Founder of PHILANTHROPIC SOLUTIONS, David provides counsel, strategic direction and interim executive management to help philanthropic and nonprofit organizations achieve their highest potential. David brings a passion for addressing community needs through philanthropy—working with donors and organizations to achieve successful outcomes.

David recently served as Interim Executive Director for 142 Throckmorton Theatre, revitalizing organizational infrastructure, implementing systems and leading a long-term strategic planning process.

David has held senior executive positions with several not-for-profit organizations, provided counsel to organizations and institutions across the country and has had had extensive involvement as a volunteer in service as well as governing roles.

David earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from the University of California, Berkeley and a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from the University of San Francisco. David is an avid cyclist, enjoys mountaineering, loves performing arts and lives in Mill Valley with his wife Margaret, son Jacob and Lab Kona.
